Project Gravity is set in a future where the Van Allen belt has failed, opening areas of the surface of the earth to the destructive effects of the Suns solar wind.

Twenty three years after the failure of the Earth's protective field, and the obliteration of most life on the planet, five main societies still exist. They consist of The North American Coalition, The European Alliance, The Chinese Hive "Assassins Mace", and The Japanese/Korean Axis "Twilights Dawn". An emergent society known as The Brotherhood of The Sigil has also started making it's presence felt in the Southern Hemisphere.

The first main installment of the Gravity series follows The Brotherhoods expansion after a long, painful, period of nation building in the unforgiving environment that the Earth has become.

Selectable Characters:

The main story can be observed from three main perspectives, all able to lead down a normal, or dark, path depending on preference:

Sigil Master
The Sigil Master is one of five individuals holding almost absolute power, and answering to the Sigil holder himself. A Sigil master is named after the material best describing his or her disposition, and the following titles have been issued: Lapis Lazuli, Serpentine, Corundum, Onyx and Quartz.

Depending on your choices you may see any one of three of these characters in the main storyline. In all cases the Sigil Master is present to ensure that the Prince and Princess do not get into too much trouble.

Prince Merlin
Prince Merlin is one the sons of the Sigil Holder, and well known as the black sheep of the family. He is known by his issued titles "The Onyx Spire", and "The Granite Fist of the Fortress Kore". Others know him by the titles "Wild Card" and "Gambit Breaker", both the result of his less than conventional lifestyle.

Recently, however, Merlin appears to have been settling down, and rumors persist of him being involved with a woman of the lowest medical class. Rank and prestige has become the defining symbol of status in the brotherhood, with anyone stepping out of bounds being severely criticized. The Sigil Holder, who watches and knows all, is quietly amused about this state of affairs, and has decided to send his son and the medical officer on a little trip.

Princess Rachel
Princess Rachel is one of three daughters of The Sigil Holder, and well doted upon. She was issued with the titles of "The Southern Emerald", and "Pressure Mistress of the Fortress Kard". Being wary of not living up to her responsibilities, she has been conducting a campaign to ensure her titles are not perceived as being for show.

Merlin's actions have irritated Rachel to the point of her openly lashing out at him in public. Naturally this drop in public decorum will just not do, and the Sigil Holder has decided to also send her on the same journey, with Merlin and the medical officer.

His comments to a departing Sigil Master were: "After the cat fight has occurred, and Rachel is left bruised and bloodied, I think things might quieten down a little. At the very least, Rachel may realise that attempting to control her brothers actions is a fools errand."

Gravity: Under Pressure

With over nineteen scripted characters, and a ten plus chapter long storyline ( concluding with an outcome credits chapter ), "Gravity: Under Pressure" will prove to be a dramatically long undertaking. Branching between hero and villain for any of the selectable characters, re-playability is guaranteed; further installments will allow you to continue from where you left off.

Prepare for situations, and hazardous environments never fully addressed by a work of science fiction. Encounter the peculiarities of cutting edge quantum technologies, and the wonders of advanced underground societies.

We'll not reveal many details here, at this time, as we enjoy questions and speculation.

Where We Are Today:

The plot outline, and the main salient points of nine of the chapters, has been written. The credits chapter is, naturally, being kept under wraps until we are satisfied with what we are trying to accomplish for the next installment.

Chapters One through to four have been scripted, and tested.

Chapter 5 ( possibly of the most lengthy chapters ) is currently under construction, and is 50% scripted, 20% tested ( 11/07/2007 ).

Graphics for Chapters One to Three are under construction, and will be completed in a linear fashion. Multiple art teams are currently assigned to this endeavour.

Voice and sound effects are being added as required on completion of the graphics for each chapter.

We are in good shape, and will be posting additional images as we deem them fit for publication.

We do not expect to have this Instalment completed any time soon, and we are toying with the idea of completing the chapters, then adding more material to improve their quality. This will mean multiple versions of each chapter as we improve scripting, graphics, sound and character complexity. When we are satisfied with a chapter, it will be released into the wild ( or may escape as a test build ).

Those who join the development team naturally gain access to a much wider amount of material, and the all important scripts of the story so far.

This production is being completed under the auspices of the Ironworks division of Nuke-Bloodaxe.Org

Chapters One through to Three are expected to be completed before the Doujin Overload 2007 event. I and the team will be exhibiting the VGN there, regardless of how much is completed, in any case.

If you are lucky, we might have the sound-effects, music, and voice-overs done for the demo.

I'm rather busy integrating various music tracks into chapters 1,2 and 3. I could do the integration into chapter 4, but my feeling is that given the demo release is only the first 3 chapters it would be better to get them up to scratch first, rather than performing a partial build of each chapter including incomplete material that won't be shown at DO.

Introduction title and logo for Ironworks Division has been constructed. Introduction Animation is on the cards, subject to time constraints before DO event, may use as product advertisement also. Music title for intro has been selected, I decided Brightwood by Manu was probably the least intrusive, and more fun track.

Character artwork is coming along nicely, with sketches for all major characters in chapter 1 and two, chapter three still needs some more sketch-work. I will be discussing this with ReiReisan/003 so that the final three character roughs will be available [ this leaves about 10 or more character roughs needed for the next 5 chapters ].

I'm currently working on tidy-up and changing the sketches into the final product. Using the strategy of doing the most difficult things first, the Hair is currently being illustrated and coloured. This is a lot more difficult on a 800 by 600 pixel canvas, as I normally work with 600dpi A3 or higher. I'm working on 7 of the characters right now.

This will be followed by the face outline structure, then the eyes, eyebrows, nose and finally the mouth. I consider the hair and eyes to be the most important feature of a character as they depict their personality and age.

A decent image library is also coming together, and is being used for the production of the backgrounds in certain scenes.

More music is being mixed into the various sections of the story, which is not as simple as it sounds as the tracks require quite a bit of cutting and splicing work to get them to loop correctly ( it's a lot simpler in an animation where tracks are one-shot for certain scenes or sections, with no large requirement for looping ).

Sakura is currently working on background shots and the interior shots of various facilities and the Musk Rat.

The introduction vid is now complete for the project. This is not a final version as I suspect I'll make plenty of changes later on, but it is certainly a good start. Some backgrounds are almost complete, and a wider range of characters have been penned, and are undergoing the colouration process.

The project will showcase an Alpha build and various screen shots at the Doujin Overload 2007 event.

Hiyaku Studio has been hired, and will continue the art production work from where it currently stands ( Alpha version Art to final version art will occur ).

These guys are seriously good, and may be followed up with an expert colourist depending on how the shading goes the first time around.

I am looking at acquiring various sound libraries soon, but there is no urgency until the animated cut-scenes are introduced.

My team is currently doing their University block, and all will go full-speed in November [ mind you, I quite like what is happening so far, concepts will be put up once some colour ones are done ].

Acquired our equipment for the Sigil Master scenes. Proceeding quite smoothly so far, but I must admit wearing, and posing in, that stuff for the other artists is quite uncomfortable [ how the hell RIOT teams can work with it all day i don't know... ].

Sound effect library licensing arranged, that adds "Power Surge", "Power Surge 2" and the "Megasonics" sound libraries for usage in the project ( includes some good earthquake rumbles and very hard hitting explosions/collisions ).

Currently going through an overhaul, this project is done very much as a hobby, but now it has really reached the point that it should be completed in a more sensible time-frame. This is so that work may begin on "time-stream"[working-title] and "Gravity:Descent".
