 Overload 2011 Now 2 Days of Smokin Anime and Manga Art

Studio Development Once called Doujin Overload, the event has now been renamed to Overload to scare off less sponsors Wink

It has also expanded to two days, which will mean more artists and special events. One of those will be the Panels, we will be having quality personalities from the New Zealand Graphic Novel, Cosplay and Publisher scenes offering talks on a good variety of fields. We can also expect published guest artists from around New Zealand to be present.

New website at: Overload Currently hosted by... us at Smile The organization always comes to the table when aiding the local amateur manga and anime artist scene.

I am also hoping to have a graphic novel for you this year, Illustrated by Dr-Quinn and in full colour. If you miss the event then you will be able to get it in hard-back and perfect bound copies from Lulu, an awesome international online publisher we were pointed to.

 Doujin Overload 2009

Studio Development Doujin Overload 2009 is just around the corner on the 25th of July. Nuke-Bloodaxe.Org will be in attendance as per usual, being a sponsor, and will be bringing materials from the current development of the Gravity project.

Thinking of the Gravity project, 3 new images from the introduction have been added to the gallery. Enjoy.

 Current Updates + New Server

Studio Development We are now running on a new server with the following specs:

Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD753LJ 750GB SATA II 7200RPM 32MB

Intel Core 2 DUO E7200 2.53GHz Wolfdale 1066MHz FSB 3MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Dual Core
LG GH22NP20 Black 22x IDE Dual Layer DVD Rewriter

So, everyone now has 750Gb to play with. Naturally this is great for photo storage, but also allows for the hosting of very large downloads for projects.

I am currently talking with another artist, and have also added some more sources for music and sound licensing to the Gravity project.

The Novelty Alpha is proceeding very smoothly, and adds some much needed sound to package support that was needed for our licensing requirements. As the art develops some more, I will see about putting together a non-voice demo for testing up.

Right now "Gravity: Under Pressure" is undergoing an extensive re-write to allow for the inclusion of more plot elements. These elements relate to the overall background of the story, and are naturally applicable to any iteration of a Gravity publication.

 Doujin Overload 2008

Studio Development It was a great event, with over 500 to 600 people attending. Present from staff was a Sigil Assault Trooper Smile

For those who took a card, and are wondering what to do, just join the forum; and express your interest in the gravity public discussion thread.

Will a Sigil Assault Trooper be present next year? Hell, yes, I had people all over me wanting photos!

On photos, I will be collecting everything I can get my hands on, and will make a new DO 2008 photo gallery.

In the meantime everyone needs some rest Smile

For those who want to look like a Sigil Assault Trooper, or be one, then please note membership to the "official" Brotherhood of the Sigil is open to those who are willing to join. You'll need to pass a few basic tests first, and be prepared to make a bit of effort, as well as working on the main goal of the Brotherhood. This is not a short-term commitment, but neither is it overwhelming.

 VGN Engines & Website Upgrade

Studio Development ALX from the Blade forum asked if this would be a likely place to ask technical questions about the platform. While I say post in the Blade forum first, I have nothing against people discussing technical aspects in the General VGN forum, so go ahead Smile

I've been compiling the different code builds, and I must say its great in its approach.

I've upgraded the dragonfly CMS back end to the latest version, so all things should run slightly faster. I'll also finally get on to putting up more material for you to look at.

For those wondering, I'm feeling much better after the being hit by a car on the zebra crossing incident. Still have a back that plays up rotten, and the left elbow is simply odd, but it looks like one more month and all should be pretty much back to normal.

 Gravity: Main Development Period Starts Today

Studio Development The meeting on the 17th of this month has allowed a bit more co-ordination on what is happening, and we are basically going full-bore from this month.

All artists are now free of their University commitments ( some permanently ), and workplace commitments are dropping in other areas; in the lead up to the New Zealand months of inexplicable country-wide work shut-down ( Late December to late January, followed by lots of public holidays as well ).

For us this means plenty of free development time, writing time, editing time, and debugging time.

 Character Development

Studio Development Studio Hiyaku and Nuke Bloodaxe will be working on character sketches and final drafts for the following:

Variations will follow, and further characters will be selected and drawn up the week after next. Concepts and progress so far will be scanned and featured in the gravity gallery.

Once the characters are in final draft form, digital line drawing and colouration will follow.

Remember, this is a reworking of the material already present into higher quality versions. This shouldn't take as much time as the original conceptual and draft versions I was working on, but they will definitely help when visualizing things.

I expect all characters will be finished by the end of September. This will then be followed by 80+ character scenes that cannot be portrayed using the standard VN sprite system. After that special effects, animated cut scenes, and remaining backgrounds will undergo construction.

 Gravity at Doujin Overload 2007 + Hiyaku Studio Hired + Overview

Studio Development The initial Alpha build of "Gravity: Under pressure" will be discussed and demonstrated at Doujin Overload 2007. Please proceed to the Nuke-Bloodaxe.Org promotional table to view and talk with David Keenleyside, the current project instigator and manager.

Remember this is an Alpha build, the artwork will definitely change for the Beta build, and is merely intended to be a demonstration of where the project is headed [ as well as to give more background and information about the storyline ].

Also featured will be material for Project Marcos, various pieces of information concerning what Nuke-Bloodaxe.Org does, and how you may join the projects, or become part of the Nuke-Bloodaxe.Org family of products.

The Blade engine will be demonstrated, with various guides on VGN construction, and how you may make your own.

Each VGN group at the event also has the opportunity to walk away with one of three commercial copies of the Blade Engine.

In other news Hiyaku Studio has been contracted to work on the artwork for "Gravity: Under Pressure", where they will take the current character builds and refine them. They will also be working on the main character based scenes in the project, as well as possible key-framing for animated cut-scenes.

Additional artists and professional colourists may be added as the project progresses. It is expected that various voice artists will be hired towards the end of the project.

The possibility of hiring professional actors for movement capture has also been mooted, and will be discussed in the future.

 Gravity Series

Studio Development Details for "Gravity: Under Pressure" are being released in the forums. All current and new team members have been given access to the hidden development forums.

The current aim is to have chapters 1 to 3 completed for Doujin Overload 2007. This may or may not be with full voice and sound effects; it depends on how quickly the various sound-sets are completed.
